U.S. REP. RON BARBER COMPLETES A BUSY AND PRODUCTIVE MONTH IN OFFICE
TUCSON – U.S. Rep. Ron Barber has completed his first month in office, winding up a period in which he was appointed to a pair of key committees, delivered three floor speeches, and held numerous events throughout his Southern Arizona district.
“It has been a busy time – and I’ve loved every day,” Barber said today. “I am honored to represent the people of Southern Arizona and I look forward to continuing a rigorous schedule both in Washington and throughout the district.”
In his first month as a member of Congress, Barber held numerous meetings with constituents in Washington, Tucson, Sierra Vista and other locations throughout his district.
He held his first Congress On Your Corner less than a week after taking office – an event that drew more than 300 people.
Barber also held a Solar Power 101 that attracted about 80 people and conducted a conference call among Border Patrol officials and ranchers and residents from border communities. Barber plans to hold regular solar events and meetings with border-area residents and continue outreach to constituents through Congress On Your Corners and visiting area events.
Barber sits on the House Armed Services Committee and he traveled to the two major military installations in his district – Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base – several times. He also toured the facilities of several Southern Arizona employers.
Barber’s 30-Day Report of activities during his first month in office is attached.
